Welcome to
What is Vendor Processing?
Vendor Processing is a free, easy-to-implement system that allows hospitals to charge vendors a fair fee for the use of their Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Medical device vendors bring their instrument trays and implants to the SPD to get sterilized. This allows instruments to be used in surgery and implants to be sold to the hospital. Currently, hospitals provide the labor, equipment, and supplies to accomplish getting the instruments and implants ready for surgery at no cost to the vendors. Vendor Processing provides the framework for hospitals to charge vendors for preparation of instruments and implants for surgery.
Benefits of Vendor Processing
- Free to the Hospital
- Get reimbursed for sterile processing Vendor’s instruments and implants
- Log accurate times of when Vendors check in instruments and implants into SPD
- A financial tool to enforce hospital policy
- Easy-to-implement
How Vendor Processing Works
Vendors log onto the Vendor Processing website at the provided kiosk located in the hospital. Vendors select the number of instrument and implant trays they would like to have the hospital process for surgery. Once completed, the vendor’s account will be charged and the hospital’s account will be credited. Vendors will then be able to print the “OK TO PROCESS” label at which point, the tray is ready to be checked in with SPD staff.
What’s on the OK TO PROCESS label
- Vendor’s Company
- Vendor’s Name
- Vendor’s Phone Number
- Date and time of check in
- Date of Surgery
- Tray ID Number
- OK TO PROCESS
What we offer
Vendor processing is completely free for hospitals. No hidden hospital fees or costs. Current instrument and implant check-in protocol will remain closely the same. Hospitals simply add a few easy steps.
Whether your hospital’s SPD currently uses handwritten labels or a computer system to track instruments and implants, Vendor Processing can be implemented with the addition of a few simple steps.
Hospitals currently carry the financial burden of sterilizing instruments and implants. Vendor Processing allows hospitals to charge vendors for the supplies, equipment, and labor it takes to sterile process their instrument and implant. Our goal is to provide a free, easy system that puts money back into your hospital.
The Vendor Processing “OK TO PROCESS” label vendors print and attach to each instrument tray provides an accurate time stamp of when the trays were processed. The label also provides the vendor representative’s name and phone number. This allows staff to easily contact the vendor about problems that may affect the surgery, overweight trays, or trays that have been left at the hospital for too long.
